Christmas has kicked off here in Denmark. White lights are up, wreaths and ever green branches are in front of the markets. Oh! And lets not forget, Christmas Beer has been in stores a while now.
One morning I was able to slip away to Vejle with a new friend for some craft shopping. We poked around a couple of stores looking for some ideas and inspiration. We tucked into a lovely Christmas shop full of all sorts of ornaments, stockings, elves, and of course…candle holders. It was good to get out and into retail world for a little shot of Christmas.
From what I can tell thus far, Danes like their fresh evergreen branches & candles and I couldn’t be happier about that. It is a dark time of year so the soft candle glow is warm and welcoming. Advent candles are sold everywhere in a myriad of colors, designs and sizes. Here is the one I chose. Simple. Next year I’ll go for a taper candle. This one is difficult to melt!
Christmas Markets are another “thing” here in Denmark-Crafters and businesses selling goods, festive shoppers happy to buy them. Last weekend my family made a quick visit to Ribe and caught part of a little Christmas Market on a cold Saturday. More on Ribe in another post but here are a few pictures from the Christmas stalls.
I hope your holiday season is off to a festive start! What are some of your holiday traditions? Favorite things to shop for? Favorite places to shop for holiday décor?
Share your faves in the comments! Thanks & God Jul!
